Client Brief
The project involved the demolition of an existing home and the design and construction of three luxury townhouses on a compact 658 square metre site. Each townhouse was to include four bedrooms and three bathrooms, with a strong focus on space, natural light, and architectural detailing. To maximise internal areas, the garages for Units 1 and 3 were built on the boundary, increasing overall floor area for the living zones. Building three dwellings on a relatively small site presented planning and construction challenges, which were resolved by developing a detailed build methodology prior to commencement. Each townhouse was designed with a large open void at the entrance to create light and volume, and skylights were used in rumpus areas to bring natural light into windowless zones. Party walls were constructed from block, tiled, and finished with architectural hoods to elevate the streetscape.
